We have provided services to the U.S. oil and gas industry for more than a century. We believe that the United States and Canada will continue to be important markets for our services.

Deregulation of the electric power and natural gas pipeline industries in the United States has led to the consolidation and reconfiguration of existing pipeline infrastructure and the establishment of new energy transport systems, which we expect will result in continued demand for our services.

The demand for new construction and replacement and rehabilitation of pipelines is expected to increase as pipeline systems in the United States and elsewhere approach the end of their design lives and population trends influence overall energy needs. Opportunities continue to present themselves in both our Upstream and Utility Transmission and Distribution segments with the dynamic growth of shale oil and gas plays in multiple regions in the United States and Canada.

Our increased downstream capabilities afford us opportunities to provide a wide breadth of services to the refining and petrochemical segments, especially on maintenance and plant turnaround projects.

In Canada, proposed new investments in the oil sands area of northern Alberta, the natural gas potential of the McKenzie River Valley and unconventional shale plays are expected to present new opportunities for our Canadian operating unit, Willbros Canada Inc.
