JANITOR
General Accountability:
The Fort Mckay Group of Companies is currently recruiting for an experienced Janitor for Muskeg Mountain LP. The Janitor is accountable for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the approved operating plan. This permanent full-time position is based on eighty (84) hours bi-weekly and is located at the Shell Albian Site, 75 km North of Fort McMurray.
Duties and Skills Required:
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement in a team operating framework.
Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
Gather and empty trash.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Other related duties as required
Working Conditions
Little exposure to safety hazards if in the field; Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) is required at all times. There are some physically demanding aspects of this job.
