Position Type/ Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
 
 
Position Description:
 
Under the general supervision, is responsible for enabling citizens, community groups and businesses to develop and/or participate in community programs, projects and events, to deal with issues, and establish systems to empower them to take ownership. Areas of focus shall include: community beautification, civic pride, environmental stewardship, vandalism reduction, public education and awareness, organizational development, and administration of special events and programs.
 
Qualifications:
 
-          Two (2) year Diploma with a major in Education, Communications, Recreation Administration, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Recreation & Sport Management, Outdoor Recreation, Event Management or related discipline from a recognized institution with two (2) years of related experience is required.
-          Four (4) year Degree with a major in Education, Communications, Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Recreation Management, or related discipline from a recognized institution would be an asset.
-          Direct or Indirect Supervisory Experience (may include, but is not limited to, the supervision of volunteers, contractors, or employees) is an asset.
-          Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders is an asset.
-          Experience developing and delivering educational programs is an asset.
-          Experience overseeing marketing and/or communications campaigns is an asset.
-          Event and volunteer management experience is an asset.
-          Budget control experience is an asset.
-          Knowledge and experience in the use and application of computer software programs within a Windows environment is an asset.
-          A valid Alberta Class Five (5) driver’s license is required.
-          Exceptional presentation skills, including ability to interact well with audiences of all ages.
-          Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers, volunteers, elected officials, and the public.
-          Proven planning, programming and supervision skills.
-          High degree of interpersonal, communication and group process skills.
-          Sound project and time management skills are required to effectively and efficiently manage multiple project/events/programs.
-          Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate.
-          Successful completion of criminal record check.
-          Ability to work independently.
-          Working in all weather conditions is required.
-          Flexibility to perform duties after regular hours, on weekends and holidays, as required to meet regional needs as set by the Mayor and council.
 
Pay / Classification Level: PL14 - PL18 (commensurate with experience)          
 
 
Salary Range: $34.03 - $38.96 (Probationary Rate)
$37.29 - $45.82 (Permanent Rates)
