Position Type/ Hours: This is a permanent, full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
 
Position Description:
 
-          Manages the overall activities of the Utilities Division within the Department of Environmental Services.
-          Leads and manages the human, physical and financial resources required to operate and maintain Utilities operations for RMWB.
-          Researches, evaluates and recommends innovative and leading practices and methods in water distribution, water metering and waste water collection.
-          Maintains and fosters a positive, encouraging and supportive work environment for staff.
-          Assists in the recruitment, mentoring and training of staff responsible for underground operations.
-          Participates in and supports the development of business and resource plans for the Utilities Division’s operations.
-          Manages service delivery and coordinates with other sections within the department.
-          Identifies, recommends and implements measures for improving long range plans.
-          Manages the preparation of the annual operating budget and financial plan for the Division.
-          Administers and manages the approved divisional operating and capital plans.
-          Reports budget variances to the Director, Environmental Services.
-          Identifies and recommends changes to communication strategies affecting Utilities operations.
-          Identifies and recommends customer service standards.
-          Investigates and responds to customer complaints and concerns.
 
Qualifications:
 
You will possess an Engineering Degree, Certified Engineering Technologist (registered with ASET) along with a minimum of eight (8) years experience including five (5) years supervisory experience in a similar capacity. Level III WaterDistribution and Level III Wastewater Collection are mandatory. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Other success factors include: Knowledge of all equipment used in utility operations. Strong analytical, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and supervisory skills; Class five (5) Alberta’s driver’s license. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Immunization strongly recommended.
 
Pay / Classification Level: CL 14
 
Salary Range: $116,505 (Starting Range) - $149,036
