General Foreman, Heavy Equipment Shovels
Reporting to the Service Manager, this position organizes, directs and supervises all Shovel technical support services. In addition to these duties, this person assures internal and external RAMP program compliance, Responsibilities include safety and environment compliance, the development of safe work procedures, scheduling, cost control, training, warranty, product issues and establishment of on-site manpower levels and maintenance of accurate records. Ensure company policies and procedures are followed, and help establish hydraulic maintenance and repair procedures. Supervises the activities within the functional area to ensure the effective, timely provision of quality services. Position generally has five or more supervisory reports and over 40 trades people including apprentices and labourers.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates all Komatsu Hydraulic Excavators repairs and builds. Working with customers to implements mechanical "best practices"
- Over see Shovel support supervisors
- Works with Customers and Factory to assure RAMP program compliance, settle warranty issues and resolve product issues in a timely manor.
- Ensure timely completion and proper tracking of Factory Campaigns
- Over see the scheduling and implementation of technical training for both Customers and client technicians.
- Develop and grow our client's Hydraulic services
- Ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements.
- Ensures functional area safety and environmental controls in job execution.
- Ensure site specific training and safety regulations are followed.
- Provides leadership and guidance to Supervisors.
- Assisting Supervisors in prioritizing service requirements with all customers.
- Advises Supervisors on union contract interpretation, compliance with company policies, and adherence to quality control standards.
- Ensures full knowledge of and implementation of all Standard Operating Procedures and other work practices.
- Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships internally and externally, with customers and manufacturers.
- Provides conflict resolution; claim settlement.
- Markets service department (negotiates with customers and manufacturers).
- Prepares customer quotations.
- Keeps current on information and technology affecting functional area to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Position requires a thorough knowledge of Hydraulic maintenance and repair of Komatsu equipment.
- Requires certification in a mechanical trade.
- Minimum 5 - 7 + years experience as a qualified trade in a relevant trade along with a minimum of 2 years previous experience at a supervisory level is preferred (within a heavy equipment dealership environment).
- Strong ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct detailed phases of mechanical functions including the performance of the same.
- Ability to positively affect SMS bottom line; cost control.
- Capable to conduct independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of mechanical "best practice".
- Also requires knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements.
