The Regional Manager of Rehabilitation will be responsible for the effective and efficient provision of integrated Rehabilitation service to all sectors across our client's expansive region: acute care impatient, outpatient, continuing care, home care and community care based programs.  Responsibilities include: development and evaluation of Regional Rehabilitation Service policies and procedures; quality improvement; risk management; personnel recruitment, supervision, direction, discipline and evaluation; fiscal management; effective communication and external contract negotiation and administration.
 
As a regulated professional under the Health Professional Act, maintains active registration with the appropriate regulatory College.  Highly diverse position requiring daily decisions pertaining to operation of Therapy Services including budgetary, staffing, equipment and service decisions.  Position operates with high level of independence with consultation available from VP of Health Services as needed.  Highly complex position requiring multiple duties and regular reprioritization of responsibilities and delegation appropriately.  High level of independence in function on a daily basis. 
 
Education:
 
  • Graduate of a recognized Baccalaureate program in Rehabilitation Services discipline.
  • Registration with provincial regulatory College.
  • Master's degree in Health administration/Business administration preferred.
  • Courses in computer operation and application desired.
 
Experience:
 
  • Minimum 5 years related clinical experience, 5 years related supervisory experience.
 
Skills:
 
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to perform duties as outlined on the Physical Demand Statement (PDS) for the position.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Ability to safeguard NLHR Health Region information as confidential.
  • Ability to follow and adhere to NLHR Health Region's policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of institutional and community based therapy services required.
  • Willingness to constantly update and maintain currency in leadership skills.
  • Able to work flexible and extended hours as required.
  • Able to work effectively with stress and deadlines.
  • Emotional stability.
  • Experience in negotiating external contracts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of team approach to patient/client/resident services.
  • Diplomacy, independence, and organization required.
  • Proven positive attitude, flexibility, resourcefulness and maturity.
  • Proven organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism required.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a recent (within the past one month) criminal record check prior to the first date hire.
  • Must have acquired PHR immunizations within the first ninety (90) days of employment
