Field Services IT Technician

The Field Services IT Technician will be based out of the Fort McMurray office, which is the primary focal point for all area job-sites and their computer support issues. The Field Services IT Technician will analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems using the internal helpdesk system, and provide end user training where required. Regular visits to all area jobsites to perform support functions, maintenance and emergency repair will be required.
 
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Provide end-user desk side support including installation, configuration and maintenance of workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices;
  • Implement system security measures in order to maintain system integrity and availability;
  • Determine how to attach devices to the LAN; configure devices to use the LAN for applications
  • Maintain LAN documentation in order to establish and maintain LAN's;
  • Install and configure internal hardware components in multi-user, PC's/servers in order to maintain or enhance system operation and capabilities;
  • Assist with the planning, designing, documentation, deployment and support of remote job-site networks;
  • Work with team members on the deployment and support of all required information services assets / requirements to construction projects;
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts;
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information;
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Information Services team in the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resources.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Completion of post secondary education in a Computer/Networking program;
  • 2 years of related work experience;
  • Experience managing, supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 servers in an active directory environment;
  • Experience supporting users with the Microsoft Office suite, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP;
  • Experience working in a Citrix environment, familiarity with using and configuring VPN connections, and experience with Symantec Ghost (or other disk imaging software packages) would all be considered assets;
  • Ability to travel to construction job-sites as required;
  • Highly developed troubleshooting abilities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised;
  • Preference will be given to permanent residents of Fort McMurray, AB.
 
This opportunity includes a company vehicle, competitive benefits package, and an annual salary of $70,000 to $80,000.
