Public Works Department
This is a permanent full-time position working forty (40) hours per week.
Under general supervision, perform skilled journeyman level work in the electrical trade. Work involves regular, preventive and corrective maintenance, electrical inspections, construction, modifications, installation/dismantling of electrical systems.
Qualifications:
- Grade twelve (12) or a GED equivalent.
- Alberta or Inter-Provincial Journeyman's Electrical Certification.
- Two (2) years Journeyman Electrical experience to include experience with high voltage switchgear and process control.
- Experience municipal operations is an asset.
- Three years journeyman experience in areas specific to Municipal operations and the particular trade, e.g., operations of inner working/glycol systems, high voltage switchgear and processing controls and electrical systems, design and programming of process controls is a definite asset.
- Valid Alberta class five (5) driver’s license (clear driving record an asset).
- Valid First Aid Certificate (within first six (6) months of employment).
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions, read blueprints, and interprets plans and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive work relationships.
- Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Must be medically and physically able to perform all of the duties of the Trade on an ongoing basis.
- Must be able to work in hazardous, unsanitary conditions and in all weather conditions.
Salary $44.49 (Probationary Rate)
$45.97 (Permanent Rate)
