We invite you to consider our vacancy for Manager, Current Planning & Development. This position offers a variety of opportunities:
Supervises the daily operations of the Current Planning & Development Branch including responsibilities and accountabilities for:
1) maintaining and enforcing land development as guided by Land Use Bylaw and contracted Safety Codes process,
2) leading and managing the resources required to maintain operations,
3) evaluating and recommending and/or directing methods of providing best value service to Council, Development Industry and the Public,
4) managing property records.
- Negotiates and manages complex development approvals.
- Supervises contract for the provision of Safety Code inspection services.
- As a Development Officer - may issue permits under the provisions of the Land Use Bylaw Identifies, examines and prepares recommendations relative to Current Planning and Development Policy issues.
- Participates in the development and implementation of Departmental plans, statutory plans/ bylaws and the Land Use Bylaw.
- Manages the Appeals process to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
- Prepare and present recommendations to the Council, Committees and Administration on Planning and Development matters.
- Coordinates complex and/or critical site inspections. Consults with public, community groups, development industry representatives and stakeholders
- Extensive contact with media to communicate development issues, policies and trends.
Qualifications:
You possess an Undergraduate Degree in a related field, e.g., Urban and Regional Planning along with five (5) years of related experience, including three years in a supervisory role. Eligibility for membership in Canadian Institute of Planners is required. You have extensive knowledge in the coordination of planning and development processes and a proven track record in developing and maintaining relationship with the public, development industries and stakeholders. Other success factors include: demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
Salary $100,461 - $128,416
(commensurate with qualifications and experience)
