Open Position/Description
Flatiron has been awarded the contract to construct the Athabasca River Bridge in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Flatiron will construct the new steel girder bridge parallel to the existing bridges on Highway 63, running north to south through the center of Ft. McMurray, increasing the capacity from four to nine lanes, as well as a smaller, secant pile-founded bridge to carry Highway 63 traffic over Franklin Avenue. We are seeking the Carpenters for this long-term project.
Duties
Primary responsibilities include building and placing straight and irregular concrete forms for substructures, superstructures and piers, performing layout of batter boards, block outs and level changes in concrete structures and walls.
Qualifications
Candidates will receive instruction, but must have experience in all areas of the carpenter trade and on the care and use of tools such as cross out and rip circular saws, routers, tenoners, shapers, joiners, planers and survey instruments. This position requires full range of body motion including handling and operating various hand and power tools, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Candidates will frequently be required to work at heights, climb and descend ladders, standing and bending over for extensive periods of time, and there will be frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site.
