Open Position/Description
 
Flatiron has been awarded the contract to construct the Athabasca River Bridge in Ft. McMurray, Alberta. Flatiron will construct the new steel girder bridge parallel to the existing bridges on Highway 63, running north to south through the center of Ft. McMurray, increasing the capacity from four to nine lanes, as well as a smaller, secant pile-founded bridge to carry Highway 63 traffic over Franklin Avenue.  We are seeking a Foreman for this long-term project.
 
Duties
 
Primary responsibilities include supervising and directing work on the project site, daily scheduling of the crew, ordering materials as needed for the scope of work, checking work on a daily basis to assure safety compliance, enforcing safety and other policies and procedures. The foreman is also responsible for budget maintenance and material cost control, checking forming and layout according to specifications, and for performing related work as required.
 
Qualifications
 
A minimum of five years experience as a foreman, or an equivalent level of extensive industry experience is required. Candidates must have experience with the construction of bridge substructures and superstructures.   This position requires full range of body motion including handling and operating various hand and power tools, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination and corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Candidates will frequently be required to work at heights, climb and descend ladders, stand and bend over for extensive periods of time, and there will be frequent exposure to rain, sleet, snow, dust, mud, heat, cold, noise and other conditions common to a construction site.
