Community Services Department
 
This is a permanent, full-time position working forty (40) hours per week. There are five (5) positions to be filled.
 
Under frequent supervision, perform tasks to assist with the maintenance and construction of parks related structures and hard landscaping as required. Ensure that Park facilities are maintained in a sanitary manner free of graffiti, litter, and other undesirable conditions.
 
Qualifications:
 

  • Grade twelve (12) education or GED.
  • One (1) year experience in parks environment or related field.
  • Prior experience operating hydraulic equipment or operating motorized litter control equipment an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR, Fuel and lube, Flagperson, Skid Steer, Chainsaw, and Forklift certifications are assets.
  • Class five (5) driver’s license.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain a Q-endorsement (Air Brakes) within 60 days of hire.
  • Class three (3) driver’s license is an asset.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Computer knowledge skills (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail).
  • Must be medically and physically fit.
  • Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and in an unsanitary environment.
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of Personal Protective clothing and accessories
  • Rough carpentry skills such as fencing, painting, and park amenity installation.
  • Equipment operation such as power mowers, sweepers, tractors, implements, chainsaws, snow blowers and other equipment as required.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Simple record keeping ability.
  • Pass criminal record check.
 
Salary $26.18 (Probationary)
  $28.58 – 30.54 (Permanent)
