This is a permanent, full-time position working forty (40) hours per week.
 
Under general supervision provide planning, studies, surveys, design, construction supervision and project management related to roads infrastructure (including traffic control), prepare review and recommend approval of designs by consultants and other development projects to ensure our interests are protected.
 
There are two (2) positions available:
 
One position will be working within the Traffic/Data Control section and will work very closely with the Planner to maintain, design and plan for future expansion of the traffic control system within Fort McMurray which consists of approximately 30 signaled intersections including 10 intersections on the provincial highway network.
The second position will be reporting to the Supervisor, Road Maintenance Services and will work closely with Service Area tasks, long range projects, and costing of and concept developing for those projects.
 
Qualifications
 

• Civil/Construction/Engineering Diploma from a recognized technical institute or equivalent combination of directly related education and proven experience.
• Eligible for membership in the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists (A.S.E.T.).
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of Civil Engineering experience, in municipal roads projects and or urban traffic control and or contract administration.
• Minimum ten (10) years related experience and equivalent combination of related courses and experience may be considered.
• Proven experience with PC computers/Windows Operating Systems, CADD, spreadsheet and work processing applications is required. Total Stations, GPS and GIS knowledge are assets.
• Capable of achieving self-set goals and targets with limited supervision.
• Valid Alberta class five (5) is required. A valid Alberta three (3) driver’s license is an asset).
• Valid First Aid Certificate is an asset.
• Proven project management, contractor administration, planning, leadership, problem solving and effective communication skills are required.
• Must be medically and physically fit to perform all of the duties of the job and have the ability to work for periods of time in all weather conditions.
