Public Works Department
This is a permanent, full-time position working forty (40) hours per week. More than one (1) position will be filled.
Operate and perform minor maintenance on assigned heavy equipment including dump trucks and trailers, front end loaders, flusher trucks, sanders, street sweepers, and man lift truck used in year round maintenance and/or construction of streets, roads and facilities. Perform heavy manual labour for an extended period of time in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- Grade ten (10) or equivalent.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in the operation of related heavy equipment
- and trucks.
- Considerable knowledge of safety precautions, methods, and techniques employed
- in the trucking and heavy equipment industry.
- Working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
- Some knowledge of basic hand tools.
- Ability to do heavy work (i.e. jack hammering, lifting, sign straightening).
- Valid Alberta class one (1) driver’s license (clear driving record an asset).
- Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.
- First Aid Certificate desirable.
- Defensive Driving Course desirable.
- Must be able to successfully complete a P.D.I.C. within the probation period.
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in a dirty environment.
- Must be medically and physically fit.

Salary $28.78 (Probationary rate)
$31.5 – 33.65 (Permanent rate)
