Position Type/ Hours: These are permanent full-time positions working a twelve (12) hour rotating shift or forty (40) hours per week.

The Position
Under general supervision, operate Wastewater/ Water and other treatment facilities to ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial Regulations and Canadian Drinking Water Standards. Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on process equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- A two (2) year post secondary diploma in Environmental Science (or related course) or one (1) year previous operations experience in a water/wastewater treatment facility or three (3) years industrial process experience involving water/wastewater mandatory.
- A Power Engineer Certificate will be considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in wastewater/water treatment.
- Valid class five (5) Alberta driver’s license (clear driving record an asset).
- Valid First Aid Certificate (within six (6) months of employment).
- Must have experience working in a computerized environment.
- Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions, read blueprints, and interprets plans and specifications.
- Must be able to work around high voltage equipment, in hazardous, unsanitary, and all weather conditions.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships.
- Must be medically and physically able to perform all of the duties of this position on an ongoing basis.
- Will be required to work in confined spaces and handle hazardous chemicals.
- May be exposed or work in unsanitary conditions. Immunizations strongly recommended.

Salary Range
Probationary rates
- $31.93 per hour – 65% Trainee
- $34.38 per hour – 70% Level 1
- $39.29 per hour – 80% Level 2
- $44.21 per hour – 90% Level 3
- $49.12 per hour – 100% - Level 4
Permanent rates
- $33.05 per hour – 65% Trainee
- $35.60 per hour – 70% Level 1
- $40.68 per hour – 80% Level 2
- $45.77 per hour – 90% Level 3
- $50.86 per hour – 100% - Level 4
** Percentages are based on the Utility Treatment Technician Rate at Pay Level 18. Rate has been adjusted to reflect market conditions **
