The Position
The Project Manager willmanage several Telecommunication projects from one of our locations in Fort McMurray, Alberta. They will be responsible for creating and executing project work plans to meet customer requirements. They will coordinate all resources; establish budgets; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; and monitor, summarize and communicate the progress of the project to all relevant stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of project execution, including deliverable commitments, project cost, schedule, and quality
- Prepare designs and layout drawings for customer review and approval prior to installation
- Articulate design rationale and function strategy as it relates to accomplishing goals set out in the project plan
- Work with the business development team to define project requirements and prepare bids
- Plan and organize all phases of assigned projects to meet contractual requirements
- Schedule tasks, deadlines and milestones for all stakeholders and resources
- Maintain the detailed project schedule on a day-to-day basis, coordinating the activities of designers, technicians, contractors, service providers, and clients
- Oversee all aspects of system installation projects to ensure the project is completed on time, and within budgetary requirements
- Oversee the tendering and awarding of subcontracts to suppliers
- Coordinate communication between staff and subcontractors acting on behalf of the client
- Work with suppliers to arrange timely provision and assembly of assets required by the installation team
- Evaluate work done by work crews to ensure it meets design and quality requirements, travelling as required to conduct field inspections
- Proactively manage project risks and establish mitigation plans
- Effectively and accurately report overall project status to clients, customers and senior management
- Manage all change order requests, including cost, schedule and contract implications as the needs of the client/project evolve
- Analyze project profitability, reporting earned value and cost performance indicators to senior management
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma
- Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline
- PMI recognized certificate in project management
Experience and Training
- 2+ years of Project Management experience
- Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering background a strong asset
- Knowledge of drafting and design
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License or equivalent
- Recent Driver’s Abstract will be required upon condition of employment
