The Position
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is a rapidly growing community and has exciting and challenging career opportunities for EMT-Paramedic's.
The Fort McMurray Fire Department will be accepting resumes for a number of intakes for Paramedics. Candidates will be contacted regarding the details of the testing and interview process, which will include a medical aptitude exam, physical fitness assessment, and a behavioral based interview.
Paramedic students who will be writing the Alberta College of Paramedics registration exam in June 2011 are welcome to apply.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
- Current Alberta (ACOP) EMT-Paramedic Certification.
- Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Valid Class Four (4) Alberta driver's license or equivalent out of province.
- Provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check for review and acceptance.
- NFPA 1001 Standard for Firefighter qualifications is an asset. These paramedics will not be required to attain NFPA 1001 qualifications, but will have opportunity to train as Firefighters if they desire.
Note:
An Advanced Care Paramedic moving into the Province of Alberta would qualify as an EMT-Paramedic. However, all individuals must be registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics to legally practice in Alberta. Salary Range: $40.85 per hour (Fire Fighter/Paramedic First Class), (Candidates registered through ACP (Alberta College of Paramedics) and the Health Disciplines Board as an Emergency Medical Technologist – Paramedics are eligible for additional education pay).
