Position Type/ Hours:  This is a permanent full time position working forty (40) hours per week.
Primary Location: Canada-Alberta-Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
Organization: Deputy Chief, Operations & Technical Service
 
The Position
 
The Dispatch Lieutenantis a working supervisor that will lead, direct and coordinate all matters related to the Fort McMurray Fire Department Communications Branch.  The Supervisor is responsible for providing effective supervision to all dispatchers while ensuring that standards of service are maintained in the performance of all duties and to undertake the duties of a dispatcher as required.
 
Qualifications

  • Current Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification.
  • Current Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) certification.
  • Provide a Criminal Record Check for review and acceptance.
  • Current Standard First Aid Level and level “C” CPR certification.
  • Emergency Dispatch -Quality Certification through the IAED Academy or able to be certified in the first year of employment.
  • Business 101 & 102 courses are preferred.
  • Communication Centre Manager certificate an asset.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles, practices and procedures involved in the Communication Branch and all related equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the department's policies, operational guidelines, operational procedures and the collective agreement and the ability to apply them to specific situations.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in verbal and written form.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer programs including, but not exclusive to Microsoft Office, F.D.M., CAD, Pro QA and AQUA,
  • Internet and e-mail and digital voice recorder.
  • Ability to effectively function under high stress for long periods during emergency incidents.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and organizational skills are required.
  • Member must be a team player and have the ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to effectively respond on short notice to conflicting demands and changing priorities and to solve problems using sound judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively with the department recording system.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and coaching skills.
Salary/ Benefits & Compensation
 
Hourly Rate: $49.33
