Role and Responsibilities
- Thorough and in-depth understanding of the commercial terms for the scope of work being reported upon, sufficient to perform internal audit, invoice preparation and train and guide project team members.
- Ensure accurate, timely and complete information for all accounting activities from cost recording/reporting trough invoicing/collection. Ensure that all team members responsible for reporting to the client and management are provided with historical accounting information required to meet reporting requirements.
- Communicate with the project team and with other divisional and corporate departments as required.
- Assist in project setup discussions, including structure within database, budgets and changes, facilitate required productivity analysis and performance measurement and projected status as called for based upon the project size and commercial terms.
- Train and support payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable clerks.
- Sufficient experience to recognize indicators which might suggest current action may be required to prevent future problems in accounting, project control deliverables.
- Review and test data recorded and evaluating it for reasonableness and reconciling as required to ensure reporting is prepared to accepted accounting standards.
- Ability to guide new problems into assigned work tasks in accordance to established project protocol, thereby ensuring orderly completion of previously assigned tasks.
- Adherence to communication protocol as established at the department, program and area of work levels.
- Support the Accounting Team Lead with reporting requirements when necessary.
- Provide vacation coverage for Accounting Team Lead when required.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee, train, and support Project Accountants, provide guidance and mentorship to project accounting team members.
Job Requirements
- Enrollment in program leading to an accounting designation, CMA or CGA (Certified Management Accountant or Certified Geaneral Accountant).
- Post-secondary Degree or diploma from an accredited Business Administration technical school, college, or university.
- Promote the corporate safety culture through leading by example and bringing the topic to the forefront during meetings, training, etc.
