PTI Group Inc. is currently seeking interested candidates for the position of Safety Supervisor, for our Oilsands Construction and Maintenance Operations. Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health & Safety and the Oilsands Safety Manager, this position will be based in the Fort McMurray area and will provide supervision and leadership support to the regional Safety Advisors.
Role and Responsibilities
- Coach, educate and advise area district lodge managers, supervisors, and employees on company safety management system.
- Supervise day to day activities of the division’s Safety Advisor group. Responsible for planning, employee guidance, scheduling, coaching, mentoring, tracking and employee selection.
- Ensures divisional statistical reporting process deadlines are met.
- Advise & assist safety advisors and site management on matters pertaining to establishment, promotion and monitoring of compliance to rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Work with site management on resolution and communication of workers concerns, right to refuse unsafe work situations and coordination of activities relation to group communication at the job site.
- Participate in the development of H&S budget and ongoing management of same budgets for area of responsibility.
- Site Hazard Control and Inspections – QA/QC review of formal and informal inspections and investigations.
- Incident Investigations – ensures investigations are completed as required, QA/QC review of same.
- Ensuring that all divisional staff are properly trained and Oriented to safety program standards in conjunction with the training department.
- Maintenance of safety management system and COR
- Promoting incident and injury prevention programs
- Assist WCB Specialist with district claims.
- Facilitating safety programs, leading safety committees, helping management and supervisors with the Corporate safety communication programs
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in a related discipline OH&S Certificate or Diploma - We will consider safety professionals with demonstrated 10+ years professional experience
- Safety professional designation an asset – CSP, NCSO, CSO, PSC-G, QSR, etc
- Effective organizational and presentation skills with the ability to facilitate change
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety management systems and the Certificate of Recognition programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of WCB claims management systems and modified work programs
- 10+ years of direct full time experience in health and safety, including managing teams of safety professionals
- Previous Supervisory experience
- Employee recruitment and selection experience
- Driver’s license – must provide abstract with less than 4 demerits.
- Ability to travel as required
