Apprenticeship and Industry Training is looking for an energetic and organized individual to fill the role of Apprenticeship Consultant in Fort McMurray. 
 
Role and Responsibilities

  • This position is responsible for the administration of the apprenticeship program and all related activities under the Apprenticeship and Industry Training Act. 
  • This involves visiting worksites to promote training and certification in the skilled trades, counsel apprentices and employers and ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • The role includes administering and invigilating trade examinations, registering apprentices and assisting them and their employers in the evaluation of their on-the-job work experience and resolving disputes between employers and apprentices. 
  • In addition, the Apprenticeship Consultant evaluates credentials and approves apprenticeship and trades-related applications, provides secretarial support to Local Apprenticeship Committees, and promotes apprenticeship and trades careers in high schools, job fairs and other events.
About You:
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational and time management skills are required in the promotion and administration of apprenticeship programs and all related activities. 
  • Well-developed consultation skills and a dedication to client service are essential to succeed in this role. 
  • Strong facilitation skills are needed to promote apprenticeship training while attending high school career events, trade association meetings and the network of industry committees.

Qualifications 
  • Recognized Journeyman certificate with Interprovincial Standards Red Seal in one or more of Alberta's designated trades plus three years of trade experience after certification is required. 
  • MS Office experience is essential. 
  • Experience in a facilitation role is an advantage, as is experience in public speaking on trade issues.
  • Experience working with apprenticeship related committees or organizations are considered to be assets. 
  • Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification. 
Salary 
  • $2,598.63 - $3,070.81 biweekly ($67,824 to $80,148 annually)

This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies across government.  Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening.

The Fort McMurray Allowance of $478.17 per bi-weekly pay period is provided and you may also be eligible for an attraction bonus.
