Job Description

The Parts Runner is responsible for, but not limited to, the receipt of all materials, including general merchandise, and shop materials, recording all items into the database and shelving the product.
 
Role and Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service by:
    • Acknowledging and greeting carriers, external and internal customers in a respectful and professional manner
    • Demonstrating a full awareness of Communication Group policies and practices
    • Taking appropriate action to resolve problem situations
  • Ensures the prices and inventory count are accurate when receiving an order
  • Abides by all corporate safety guidelines including those dealing with moving heavy carts, lifting and opening boxes
  • Processes all incoming shipments and material orders by:
    • Unpacking and verifying that the product and quantities match the invoice and purchase order
    • Accurately entering invoice and receiving data into the computer database
    • Shelving product and creating barcodes and labels when necessary
    • Notifying the manager and the purchaser of damaged shipments, shortages and errors
    • Supporting the purchaser in following up on lost shipments and credits when required
  • Attaches packing slips to receivings report, for forwarding to accounting
  • Ensures that shelves are stocked and maintained
  • Ensures that the receiving area is organized, maintained and kept clean
  • Provides relief for Parts Clerk when required
  • Deliveries to all other locations on an as needed basis
  • Purchases and pick-ups from suppliers on an as needed basis
  • Work closely with staff in all departments, including, as required by Inventory Manager, cross-training to understand requirements of inventory from the outside departments
  • Attends all safety meetings as outlined by the manager, adopting safe work practices on the job daily
  • Additional functions as determined by Inventory Manager, including, but not exlusive to, tasks requested by other departments
Qualifications:
 
Education
  • High School Diploma
Experience and Training
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Recent Driver’s Abstract may be required upon condition of employment
  • Previous experience in warehouse setting an asset
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong computer application and database skills in programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Strong attention to safety, detail, and accuracy
  • Proven commitment to providing outstanding internal/external customer service
  • Ability to multi-task and to work in high pressured, fast paced environment
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a team environment
