Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver (Winch Tractor Operator/Truck Driver Required)
 
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, On Call, Overtime, Weekend, Day
Salary: $28.00 to $35.00 Hourly for 44 hours per week, Group Insurance Benefits
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta (1 vacancy)
 
Skill Requirements
 
Education:

• Some high school

 
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.):

• Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A)

 
Experience:

• 5 years or more

 
Languages:

• Speak English,
• Read English,
• Write English

 
Type of Trucking and Equipment:

• Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles),
• Tractor-trailer,
• Tractor-trailer B train, Dump

 
Type of Travel:

• Short-haul,
• Local,
• Provincial/territorial

 
Documentation Knowledge:

• Driver logbook,
• Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip),
• Maintenance and repair reports,
• Trip reports,
• Accident or incident reports

 
Communication Equipment Experience:

• Citizens band (CB) radio,
• Cellular phone

 
Weight Handling:

• Up to 9 kg (20 lbs)

 
Specific Skills:

• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials,
• Loading and unloading of goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo,
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment,
• Perform brake adjustments,
• Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness,
• Perform preventive maintenance,
• Perform emergency roadside repairs

 
Additional Skills:

• Professionalism in customer service

 
Security and Safety:

• Driving record check (abstract),
• Drug test

 
Own Tools/Equipment:

• Steel-toed safety boots

 
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:

• Physically demanding

 
Transportation/Travel Information:

• Valid driver's licence
