The General Maintenance Technician is a sub-contractor position that is responsible for effectively and efficiently completing general maintenance work orders.
Role and Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls within the required response times according to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Provide excellent customer service to clients.
- Perform general maintenance services including but not limited to:
- General Interior – Drywall and ceiling repairs, install/move keyboard trays, fix blinds, test alarm systems, move furniture, etc.
- General Exterior – Fill potholes, move curb stones, repair or paint railings, minor landscaping, flashing or eaves trough repair (unclog/re-install), investigate leaks, etc.
- Electrical – Replace light switches or light fixtures, test and replace fan motors, reset or test alarm or emergency lighting systems, etc.
- Plumbing and Heating– Repair faucets/toilets, repair leaky taps, unclog toilets, clear blocked vents and ducts, etc.
- Locks and Cabinets – Repair/replace locks for office doors, filing cabinets & credenzas. Open office doors, unlock desk drawers, provide keys, etc.
- Desks, Chairs and Counters – Repair desktops, counter tops and cupboard doors, repair/replace office chair cylinders and casters, etc.
- Perform residential handyman installations including but not limited to: toilets, faucets, sinks & shower doors.
- Compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety legislation, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures and practices.
Qualifications
- Must have experience in completing general maintenance in commercial buildings
- Ability to make effective decisions in emergency situations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Highly motivated with a strong customer service focus
Requirements
- Own vehicle and Valid Drivers License
- Own tools
- Criminal record check
- WSIB and general liability insurance
