Job Description
This position would be responsible for the overall management and execution of Project Controls work for a major EPC Project. As well, be the main interface with the clients planning team in the development, monitoring and updating of project planning and control systems. You will also be responsible for providing weekly and monthly reports to Management and the Client Reps identifying achieved progress, productivity, schedule delays, mitigation measures and budget expenditure/costs to complete information. You will also be heavily involved in the change management process which is a key element of your job responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing and mentoring Project based Project Controls staff
- Working with our Client's Project Services team to facilitate operational reporting requirements
- Applying your detailed knowledge of Primavera, databases, Excel and SAP as project scheduling and cost control tools to plan, document, track, trend and report progress, construction, testing and commissioning for assigned projects.
- Provide detailed budget estimating, cost and gross margin analysis
- Support development of estimate basis, code of accounts, WBS to ensure integration that aligns with planning & cost controls and integration with client sytems.
- Preparing detailed CPM schedules for task planning, resource management, progress monitoring, daily labor input and earned value analysis in conjunction with Tracer's project management.
- Communicating and coordinating with Owner's Representatives and other Contractors to identify their needs and expectations and interface these with Tracer activities and practices.
- Supporting our Client's project and construction managers in progress review meetings and presentations with Owner or Owner's Representatives.
- Maintaining a change order log ensuring that all changes are timely managed in accordance with the change order management process.
- Consolidation of monthly project forecasts, including margin variance analysis, projected revenue and impacts on operating income.
- Preparation of backlog reports, for active and quoted projects provided fiscal revenue and profit forecasts.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience:
- Commerce/Engineering degree required.
- Certified Cost Engineer or equivalent
- 5+ Years scheduled maintenance planning, proven experience in change management and risk mitigation planning
- 5+ years of leadership experience with project planning, scheduling & cost control teams.
- Maintenance, project, construction, and/or operations experience at an operating petrochemical facility or a heavy industrial site is a distinct asset.
Knowledge:
- SAP knowledge is a requirement for this position.
- Knowledge of heat management systems and general electrical projects would be a definite asset
- Oil sands experience would also be an asset
