The Human Resources Generalist will support an HR team in partnering with local Business Leaders to provide coaching, support and influence that enable Business Leaders to effectively deliver their people plans.
The Human Resources Generalist provides day to day tactical and administrative support on HR practices, policies, and change management initiatives that deliver best in class focused HR solutions that the designated business unit.
The Human Resources Generalist supports and executes Human Resources initiatives, and practices that support an employee-oriented, high performance culture emphasizing empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment and the ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Support the HR Business Partners and Line Managers in the administration and execution of HR initiatives associated with workforce planning, development and talent acquisition;
- Participate in programs to understand and improve employee engagement, employee retention and reduce turnover;
- Work on special projects with HR and Business Leaders concerning workforce planning, development, and reduction;
- Support administration of annual performance management and compensation review processes;
- Understand legal requirements related to day to day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance;
- Develop and present management training in sexual harassment, employee relations, performance appraisals etc.
- Manage and resolve employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations;
- Conducts/maintains a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments and key trends;
- Act as company representative in unemployment claims;
- Share best practices across functions to facilitate continuous improvement;
- Generate reports and communicate information to appropriate HR and Line managers on a timely basis;
- May be responsible for supporting the administration of union agreements for assigned unions and organizations;
- Maintain corporate culture of excellence and enforce company's key values;
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of the Clean Harbors business.

Education/Knowledge
- Minimum - High School plus specialized training in HR, training, recruiting, and labour related
- Preferred - BS/BA in Human resources, Commerce or Business related field
Experience
- Minimum -1 to 3 years previous Human Resources related positions
- Preferred - 3 to 5 years previous Generalist experience in a related industry
Required License(S)/Endorsement(S)
- Working towards Professional Human Resource designation
- Valid Driver's License
