Position Scope:
As one of the largest providers of mining, heavy construction, industrial, piling, and pipeline services in Western Canada North American Construction Group is recruiting for Heavy Equipment Technicians in the Fort McMurray area.
This position is a union position. Successful candidiates must join the Local 955 union. This position pays $41.65/hr.
Responsibilities:
- Preventative Maintenance and servicing of all equipment
- Check equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- Trouble shooting systems- example hydraulic, electrical & mechanical of all equipment and determine faults and extent of repair
- Major overhauls on equipment as required
- Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
- Component rebuilds
- Mobilization of equipment for different applications
- Develop work scopes and schedules for equipment to be repaired
- Order parts for the servicing, and rebuild of equipment as required
- Assist Foreman in day to day operations
- Fill in when foreman is away if designated lead
- Complete reports and fill out work orders when required
- Teach and evaluate apprentices and HD Mechanics
- Follow NACG codes of practice and safety procedures
- Demonstrate leadership skills in daily work interaction
Qualifications:
- Interprovincial Red Seal in Heavy Equipment Technician required
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- A creative approach to problem solving; adaptability and flexibility
- Have a concern for safety and awareness of safe working procedures
- Ability to work alone or as a member of a team with other tradespersons
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- 5 years on the job experience to complement Apprenticeship training program
- Completion of secondary school
- First Aid
- Heavy Construction and or Mining equipment experience required
