The Position
 
Design Group is currently recruiting for a Health, Safety & Environmental Lead.  Our client is a Fort McMurray based company that is expanding its office again. We are seeking an energetic, career-minded professional that wants to be challenged, recognized and rewarded for their contributions and hard work.
 
Our client provides an extensive array of services across the broad spectrum of construction. They specialize in residential, commercial and industrial projects. This position will be based in Fort McMurray.
 
Under the direction of the HSE Manager, the HSE Lead has the primary on-site role in preventing workplace accidents. If you are looking for an opportunity to utilize your professional judgment in assessing risk, reviewing work practices and determining best practice and you meet the job responsibilities and requirements outlined below, then we want to hear from you.
 
Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and supervision for the HSE Advisors
  • Responsible for conducting audits, safety reviews and accident investigations
  • Perform daily surveillance for compliance with HS & E regulations on job sites
  • Assist in investigation and reporting of incidents and complaints
  • Regular safety and quality meetings
  • Responsible for new employee safety and quality management orientations
  • Recommend improvements to HS & E tools, processes, policies and training
  • Monitor sub-contractors compliance to safety standards
Job Requirements:
  • Certified National Safety Officer (NCSO) or other recognized safety certification
  • Two years experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Sound knowledge of the concepts and principles of health, safety and environment
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and other related software
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
