CoSyn Technology is a business unit of WorleyParsons Canada and provides engineering and project execution services to Syncrude.  CoSyn is committed to continually improving the quality of our products, the excellence of our service, and the value we create for Syncrude and our staff.  We employ over 600 staff and support Syncrude operations in Fort McMurray from our offices in Edmonton and from our site office located at the Syncrude facility.
 
The Position
 
Successful candidates will possess a solid understanding of electrical systems, complemented by years of practical experience preferably in the oil sands or a large-scale petro-chemical plant setting. They will be an effective communicator, an established team player, and able to deliver quality work results for our customer.
 
Responsibilities:

• Produces electrical engineering design drawings such as layout drawings, motor schematics, wiring diagrams, electrical heat tracing isometrics, panel schedules, cable schedules, bill or materials, etc. for new and revamp installations.
• Designing and detailing new components from previous designs based on engineering scope of work, government and regulatory codes.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to designers/drafters.
• Interfaces with team members, other discipline members and customer.
• Coordinates work between field and office.

• Technical school diploma in a related field with minimum 6 years of related design experience within an oil sands or a large-scale petro-chemical plant setting.
• Experience using Microstation is required.
• Experience in low and medium voltage - must be familiar with lighting, electrical heat tracing, instrument wiring and procurement of materials.
• Experience in the design/preparation of layouts, schematics & wiring and calculations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A demonstrated focus on customer service.
• Ability to operate independently.

• This position will be based at the Syncrude site north of Fort McMurray.
• This position reports to the Electrical Department Head.
