The Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer position is a full time salaried role located in our Fort McMurray, AB operations in the Infrastructure & Environment Division.
 
As our ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role, your responsibilities will consist of the following tasks:

  • Provide Civil/Structural expertise to Canadian and International projects;
  • Preparation of Basis of Design and Scope of Work documents and completion of design at various stages from conceptual to detailed design;
  • Supervision and QAQC of earthworks construction activities.
  • Preparation of proposal and project deliverables including calculations, data sheets, engineering reports, specifications and drawings;
  • Undertake the analysis and design of concrete, steel structures, wood structures will be an advantage;
  • Design of civil earthworks such as roads, grading, and site drainage;
  • Infrastructure and utility design;
  • Interface with other WorleyParsons disciplines in project work and design, including Water Resources, CAD Design Group, Geotechnical, etc.;
  • Participate in the high level planning of Civil group projects, as required.
  • Assist with the preparation of bid and contract documents;
  • Project management including project initiation, client meetings, contractor meetings, and commissioning of assigned work;
  • Preparation of engineering and total installed cost budgets, for proposals and projects;
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to junior staff; and
  • Promote a culture of zero harm.
Job Requirements
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited curriculum;
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (as detailed above); and
  • Good written and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with national building code and standards;
  • Familiar with geometric road design and construction specifications;
  • Experience in the structural Analysis and design for steel and concrete structures;
  • Exposure to the National Master Specifications; and
  • Knowledge design software such as STAAD-Pro, S-Frame, RISA-3D and DYNA-5 will be an advantage.

  • Excellent computer and technical writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment are essential.
