This position consists of the coordination of the administrative, financial, technical and business development functions for the Athabasca Oil Sands region.
 
Working directly with the Regional Managing Director and the Athabasca Oil Sands senior leadership team, your scope of responsibility will include the following roles:

  • Business Partner,
  • Controls,
  • Accounting, and Personnel Management.
A key component to this position is the incumbent's ability to monitor processes, materials and resources of the business operation. This role may be based from either Fort McMurray or Sherwood Park, AB; the willingness and ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) between the two locations is required.
 
Primary responsibilities include
 
Profit and Loss Management
  • Abide by the management spending matrix created by Acuren Group Inc. for purchases
  • Manage Athabasca Oil Sands operation and capital budget
  • Oversee administrative functions to eliminate errors and increase efficiencies
  • Retrieve, understand and analyze the monthly profit and loss statement
  • Jointly develop Athabasca Oil Sands budget with the Managing Director
Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with Acuren’s contract review process prior to starting any work on a new contract
  • Ensure that high quality and valued services are provided to the client
  • Ensure compliance regarding company background screenings and hiring protocols
  • Ensure concise weekly flash reports are constructed
  • Ensure concise monthly workbook reports are constructed
Service Excellence
  • Maintain Athabasca Oil Sands client interfaces
  • Work with clients to clearly identify project expectations
  • Maintain internal systems for effective staffing and scheduling
  • Follow-up with clients to verify project satisfaction
Personnel and General Management
  • Work with HR to hire, develop and retain competent, motivated and loyal staff
  • Work with HR to develop and implement strategic plans for recruitment, training and succession
  • Assist HR with hiring, staffing, performance reviews, successor planning, promotion, counseling and dismissal processes
  • Supervise both direct and indirect labour to maximize utilization
  • Work and act as a mentor to employees to produce effective leaders
  • Delegate responsibilities to employees to boost morale and teach management responsibilities
  • Work with management from other Acuren Group Inc. regions to provide support and cross-utilization of personnel when required
Business Development
  • Build upon client relationships by providing exceptional and responsive services, frequent communication and following ethical business practices
  • Manage and update requirements for long-term clients and major projects
  • Continue to develop and implement pricing strategies and tactics beneficial to the region
  • Liaise with corporate business personnel for bid coordination
  • Identify and evaluate joint ventures/acquisitions to be integrated into the region
What you will bring:
  • Professional accounting designation
  • 7-10 years financial management experience, preferably in an industrial or professional service industry
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a part of a team
  • Well suited to an entrepreneurial, fast-paced culture with high professional and ethical standards
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills, financial systems, and business acumen
