Overview:
Compugen is a supplier of Information Technology Products and Services. This position is responsible for the deployment, installation, and upgrade of Computer desktops, workstations, printers, peripherals as well as associated operating systems and application software at the desktop level. Included is the troubleshooting and repair of hardware and software failures.
Calgary or Edmonton residents will travel to Horizon for this position. Hours of work are Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 4:30pm. Flight to Horizon Monday morning, return flight Thursday afternoon.
Role and Responsibilities
- Perform network installations, upgrade migrations and infrastructure maintenance on exiting projects and be able to troubleshoot issues in fast-pace environments
- Perform complex installations, moves, adds, changes and disposals of computer server and network equipment
- Perform troubleshooting to determine and resolve the root cause of many hardware or system software malfuntions at the desktop and server level
- Perform warranty and non-warranty repairs to server and networking equipment
- Assist other tecnicians in resolving hardware and software issues
- Outsourcing to clients a possibility
- Be available for regular work assignments during evenings and weekends or out of town
- Part of the afterhours on-call rotation
- Perform second level support for server operating systems, messaging, networking, including Citrix, VM Ware ESX and Microsoft Virtual Servers
- Be able to create and maintain Standard Operation Procedures and Infrastructure Documentation as required.
Qualifications:
- College or University education in Electronics or Computer Science
- Server + and A+ Certification
- MCSA and CCNA Certifications
- Proven ability to perform server and NOS installations in a production environment.
- Over (8) years of related job experience
- Vendor hardware certifications (HP/Compaq, IBM)
- Must have a valid driver's licence, vehicle and insurance
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- A sense of urgency to complete tasks and assignments
- Strong ability to diffuse tense customer situations and project a postitive, confident outlook
- Ability to transfer knowledge and experiences to other technicians
- High level of integrity and honesty
- Ability to develop and implement best practices and procedures consistently and accurately
