The Position
SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts is one of Canada's leading hotel management companies and manages over 20 hotels and resorts across Canada. The company manages independent hotels and hotels operating under major franchise brands, such as Radisson, Hilton, Quality, Best Western and Ramada.
Role and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook full course meals
- Prepare and cook individual dishes and foods
- Basic food preparation
- Ensure sanitary cooking conditions and appropriate safe food handling
- Ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions
- Work with minimal supervision
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas
- May assist in menu development
- May assist in cost control, monitoring and ordering of supplies
Qualifications:
- A post -secondary school diploma in the Culinary Arts is required or 2 plus years cooking experience
- Basic food preparation
- Developed knowledge of butchery and fish cutting
- Developed knowledge of baking and pasty production
- Developed knowledge of all cooking methods such as roasting, stewing etc.
- Ability to deal with high pressure environments
- Completion of High School
- Experience in the Culinary work environment is an asset
