Reporting to the IT Manager, this position is responsible for various facets of IT including, the stable operation of the Corporation’s computer software systems and network connections, installing, configuring, maintaining and supporting all network software and communication links.
The successful candidate for this position must be team orientated and have a positive and confident personality with a high degree of ethical soundness.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, acquire and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.
- Stay informed on new or emerging trends and technologies that provide clear benefits to the Corporation.
- Manage and ensure effectiveness of servers, including email, print and back up servers and their associated operating systems and software.
- Monitors and maintains computer equipment inventories and ensures completion of maintenance tasks, including the implementation of a scheduled maintenance program.
- Approve and administer user accounts, permissions and access rights.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient and cost-effective acquisition of technology purchases; oversee warranties and service agreements.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Two (2) year Diploma in Computer Science/Programming/Computer Information Systems (CIS) from a recognized Institute of Technology.
- Microsoft Certification and/or A+ certification.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Server 2003/2008, Windows XP/Windows 7, Microsoft Office, Citrix and Blackberry.
- One to three years in network operations and applications as well as installation, repair and upgrade of equipment, software and networks required.
- Demonstrated organization, communication, interpersonal, technical and problem solving skills.
- Proven ability to work with limited supervision, use initiative and creative thinking in various functions within the job.
- Ability to maintain performance when under stress and manage time effectively.
- Ability to actively look for ways to enhance and improve work processes with an eagerness to learn new things.
- Must have a valid Alberta Class (5) Drivers’ License.
- Able to successfully complete an RCMP Criminal Records Check.
