We are currently recruiting for a full-time Building Operator to oversee facility maintenance of commercial buildings/offices and grounds.
The Building Operator is primarily responsible for coordinating all facility maintenance, projects and preventative maintenance programs both internally and externally, while ensuring all work is completed in compliance with the Alberta Building Codes and all applicable legislation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly inspection reports of buildings, maintenance/mechanical equipment and grounds (interior and exterior)
- Issue permits and work orders and coordinates work with various trades personnel
- Works collaboratively with the Planner in developing, implementing and executing preventative maintenance programs on building structure and equipment
- Respond to tenant service calls in a timely manner
- Respond to work emergencies and dispatches appropriate personnel
- Regular inspection documentation of mechanical rooms, mechanical equipment , tenant area and construction areas to assess cleanliness, safety and efficiency
- Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
- Ensuring building standards are maintained according to code
- Perform other duties as they may arise that would fulfill the mandate of providing complete facilities operations and maintenance
Qualifications:
- 4th or 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate
- 3 years experience in an industrial building operator position
- Proven knowledge of Alberta Building Codes and building related legislation
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce; the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to work from heights and work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift a minimum 30 lbs
Pre-employment Requirements:
- Drug, Alcohol and Audio pre-screening test
- Class 5 License with clean Driver’s abstract within 30 days
