The Position
We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Oil Sands Division in the Fort McMurray office.
Duties include but may not be limited to:
- Involvement in activities that contribute to the successful management of large oil sands projects. Projects will vary and will include management of Pre-disturbance Assessment field work and report preparation, report review, and other regulatory projects in support of the development, operation and decommissioning of oil sands projects
- Participation in a team environment, working closely with other staff and helping to develop and mentor less experienced staff
- Interacting and collaborating with clients, peers and senior staff members
- Work with and provide support to other members of the Oil Sands Management Division in sharing project management, project completion and client service responsibilities
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:
- University degree in natural or earth sciences or similar field
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in the oil and gas industry specializing in environmental issues, and/or the environmental consulting industry
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary projects, providing technical guidance by developing and executing field work programs and preparing technical reports
- Managerial experience, including coordinating and mentoring junior staff, including effective and disciplinary feedback as required
- Providing employee performance evaluations for review with the management team
- Demonstrated leadership attributes and team building skills
- The ability to understand our clients and their business to help them succeed
- Strong communication and writing skills are key
- Preference will be given to those individuals with more extensive experience in environmental regulatory projects and environmental planning in the upstream oil and gas industry
