About this opportunity:
 
We’re looking for a highly motivated Group Lead, Camp Operations for our Project Controls & Infrastructure Group  The successful candidate will lead and manage year round Camp Operations for all of Cenovus.
 
Cenovus actively owns and contracts multiple camps to support growing expansions in oil production. In 2011, Cenovus camps managed over 7,000 beds with exceptional support and service. Reporting to the Manager, Field Services; this role is accountable and responsible to ensure that Cenovus standards are being upheld and maintained on a daily basis. This is a Calgary based position.
 
Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead an injury free culture, utilizing Cenovus safety procedures and protocols
  • Manage safety and compliance incidents, issues, corrective actions
  • Administer Cenovus’s Drug and Alcohol policy
  • Lead a high performing team of field camp managers, maintenance personnel, business analysts and compliance specialists
  • Ensure adherence to Cenovus camp rules and policies
  • Ensure that Cenovus standards are being upheld and maintained on a daily basis regarding (food quality, consistency, cleanliness and safe work practices)
  • Identify & support business initiatives to improve processes, reduce costs, protect people & the environment
  • Challenge to annually reduce costs 10% through efficiencies and scale opportunities (e.g. healthier menu choices, more environmentally friendly products, etc.)
  • Manage service and supply contracts through Cenovus SCM
  • Ensure Camp Operations is financially transparent & compliant
  • Ensure capital is efficiently budgeted, monitored & spent within Cenovus approvals
  • Monitor & report on performance, KPI’s, actual, outlook & budgeted operating costs
  • Partner with assets on budgets, scope, cost & schedule
  • Work with Cenovus functional groups to ensure service levels and man day counts accuracy
  • Strive for continued improvement related to camp capital reporting accuracy against the approved budget
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in all camp operations, water treatment and wastewater treatment plants
  • Ensure and grow staff competency
  • Grow future leaders through succession & development planning
  • Continue developing & fostering positive stakeholder relationships
  • Promote positive community relations, support & attend local community events
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • 15+ years relative camp industry experience in managing multiple oil and gas camps
  • Strong understanding of safety, regulatory and compliance in the camp industry 
  • Experience in long and short term planning with effective execution with proven results
Other skills:
  • Post-secondary education in business, hotel or hospitality management education or experience would be an asset
  • Strong written and communication skills required
  • Demonstrated strong organization and analytical skills
  • Proven track record of leading a successful team through mentorship and coaching
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external clients

Operations Support Teams are responsible for facilitating operational tasks by providing high-quality infrastructure and services in administration, supply chain management, drilling, facility management and business services. This group includes Regulatory, Local Community Relations, Military Liaison, Planning and Land, Health and Safety and Operations Shared Services.
