Position Summary:
The Contracts Manager is responsible for oversight, direction and provision of a full range of contract administration and coordination activities, identifying and allocating tasks to the Contracts Team to meet operational requirements, with key focus on leading the processing of contractual terms, conditions, obligations, liabilities and risks from a commercial and technical perspective. The individual will manage CEDA efforts in the review and administration of contractual terms in close consultation with CEDA stakeholders (Legal, Operations and Corporate departments).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities
- Ensure in-depth knowledge, and assist development, of standard contractual documents, CEDA policies and contractual negotiating parameters in support of CEDA operations
- Manage Contracts Team activities, from operational support and HR perspective
- Lead / assign bid reviews on contractual obligations in client bid documentation and, in accordance with CEDA negotiation parameters, ensure documentation of recommendations, clarifications or exceptions, in conjunction with Legal
- Oversee negotiation of contractual arrangements with clients and suppliers, ensuring application of CEDA negotiation parameters
- Liaise with CEDA and external stakeholders to understand, deliver and monitor subcontracting needs
- Direct the development of individual contract summaries for use by Operations teams
- Ensure prompt and professional delivery of post-award contract administration / contractual change management functions, ensuring compliance with CEDA negotiation parameters and contract terms and conditions
- Provide periodic contract status reports, resolve issues and mitigate risks, ensuring communication and application of contracting strategies and procedures across CEDA
- Escalate requirement for contractual challenges to appropriate levels in CEDA
- Drive ongoing value enhancement and process improvement in contract activities
- Ensure proper application of contract closeout functions, in compliance with contract terms and conditions
- Lead contractual audits
- Provide mentoring, leadership, subject matter expertize, strategic direction and vision for present operation and future growth and development of the Contracts Team and the wider CEDA group by ensuring that employees are informed, aligned and accountable
Secondary responsibilities
- Become familiar with CEDA operations
- Enable structured transfer of knowledge and best practices and the development of industry leading processes, standards, systems and tools to support execution of daily tasks, and training of members, of the Contracts Team
- Advise CMS Client Services and CMS Procurement, as required, with initiation, evaluation, development, management and completion of contractual aspects of bid proposals and requests for CEDA affiliates in accordance with corporate mandate
Role Specifications
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in contracts administration and coordination
- Minimum 3 years in management or supervisory role, with strong people management skills
- Ability to analyze and develop complex contractual documents and articulate complex ideas, verbally and in writing
- Expert knowledge of contractual terms and condition terminology
- Proficient computer skills: e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Adobe professional, Visio, etc.
- Ability to work with all levels of management
- Proven negotiation skills
- Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills
- Proven time management skills, multi-tasking and the ability to successfully handling multiple projects with constantly changing priorities
- Consistent, demonstrated ethical behavior
- Demonstrate an uncompromising commitment to Health and Safety
Nice to have skills
- Formal training / certifications in Contracts administration
- Knowledge of procurement, contracts and commercial law in Oil & Gas Industry

- Knowledge of HS&E Policies/procedures and OH&S safety regulations
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree, or acceptable proven expert knowledge of contracts activities
- Degree in Business or Commerce preferred
- Formal training / certification in commercial law preferred
