About this opportunity:

Our Christina Lake Asset is currently seeking self-motivated, hands-on individual for the role of Maintenance Technician, Mechanical to perform a variety of daily duties and assignments at our Christina Lake site.

 

Reporting to the Field Maintenance Leads at Christina Lake, your primary responsibility will be to effectively provide mechanical maintenance throughout the facility and to effectively perform a wide variety of mechanical work tasks. The successful candidate will work a 7 days on, 7 days off schedule.

 

Our Christina Lake facility is a fly-in camp facility situated approximately 170 kms north of Lac La Biche. The successful candidate will reside in camp. Transportation is provided to site from various departure points; including bus service from Cold Lake/Bonnyville and air service from the following locations, Edmonton, Calgary, Medicine Hat, Red Deer, Saskatoon and Lloydminster.

 

Responsibilities:

•Collaborate with the Area maintenance team in the execution of daily scheduled work activities

•Conduct work in a manner prescribed by Cenovus’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S)  and Safe Work Practices

•Provide expertise in the maintenance of all SAGD processing facilities and field locations

•Perform and/or manage the performance of work required to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and calibrate all equipment

•Maintain superior housekeeping standards throughout the plant and associated areas

•Identify and assess opportunities to improve safety, reliability and maintenance costs

•Manage compliance to industry and Cenovus’s requirements

•Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification or emergency response

•Ensure effective communication with operations, maintenance and management staff

•Maintain proper documentation of calibration and repair records

•Ensure ongoing performance improvement including job progression, site-specific training and process training

•Execute work scopes, PM's and day to day maintenance activities    

•Support facility engineering department on approved management of change scopes of work

 

Qualifications:

•Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

•Grade 12 diploma

•Mechanical Trade Red Seal designation or indentured apprentice in the following core mechanical trades (millwright / pipefitter / welder)

•Preference may be given to applicants who hold multiple trade designations or have demonstrated their experience in a multi skilled environment

•Excellent problem solving and planning skills, provide technical input to optimize work plans

•High safety standards

•Valid class 5 drivers license

•Work within a PC based Maintenance Management System (JD Edwards / Maximo)

 

Other skills:

•Excellent troubleshooting skills

•Excellent organizational skills

•Team oriented and self motivated in a dynamic environment

•Proficiency with standard software including Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. is preferred

•Experience in the oil & gas industry would be an asset

•Excellent communication and documentation skills
