Shift/ Hours:  7 days on/7 days off 
 
Purpose of Role:
 
Contribute to the success of MEG Energy’s site based operations by applying your experience and expertise in Human Resources at our Christina Lake site.  This position has general responsibility for assisting in the delivery, implementation and review of all MEG’s site based HR initiatives in support of MEG’s business plans and strategic goals. 
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and coaching to site management on the full spectrum of core HR services, policies and practices and employee relations matters 
  • Provide coaching and guidance to management and employees to effectively address workplace issues and assist in special projects as the business dictates 
  • Facilitation of new programs, policies, and solutions to support client needs and ensure consistent and appropriate implementation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategies that support the development, engagement and retention of site based employees 
  • Work closely with other HR Advisors at site and site management to identify areas of opportunity and provide solutions to enhance the employee experience at MEG Energy
  • Provide new employees with information to orient them to MEG Energy
  • Provide assistance as needed to develop and implement a site succession planning process including building training and development plans that will assist site based employees by enhancing their performance in their current role and preparing them for future roles within MEG
  • Provide personal leadership that supports MEG’s safe and respectful workplace
 
Education:
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business or in a related area
  • H2S Certification
  • CHRP designation preferred 
 
Experience:
  • Progressive broad experience in Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years at the fully qualified level, and 2 years in a site based HR role
  • Ability to develop and implement practical solutions and initiatives
  • Demonstrated customer-focused approach
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with different departments to achieve effective results
  • Strong knowledge of legislative compliance with all relevant provincial and federal legislation including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Privacy legislation
  • Proven communication, organizational and personal management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment
