Purpose of Role:
- Contribute to the success of MEG Energy Corp’s operation by applying your experience and expertise in site construction engineering management.
- The Technical Services Lead works closely with the Site Technical Manager, Construction Superintendents and Site Construction Contractors. The Technical Services Lead is accountable to support Construction/Engineering groups and act as a liaison with the Site Construction Contractors, MEG Energy Operations, Commissioning and Start-up and other members of the Projects Construction Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide and demonstrate personal Safety leadership in accordance with MEG Energy Corp’s Environment Health and Safety Program. Provide leadership in establishing a strong Safety culture within the MEG Energy Corp’s organization, vendors, service providers, and the contractors we engage with.
- As Site Discipline Coordinator you will be responsible for supervising a team of technical discipline coordinators responsible for the technical integrity of the final installed facilities for projects executed by the Projects group Construction Management Team.
- Ensure that any deviations from the original engineered design are properly managed through MEG’s construction design change management process;
- Assist as liaison with the home office engineering team for direction and support with resolution of engineering related issues that occur during construction;
- Direct day to day activities of technical discipline leads and coordinators;
- Work with subcontractors to ensure materials, equipment and workmanship, comply with design plans and specifications;
- Assist with the maintenance of construction engineering records for the purposes of maintaining project construction history and turnover to C&SU;
- Ensure technical and quality requirements for all construction activities are in compliance with applicable codes, standards and specifications;
- Maintain strong relationships within the Field and Home Office Project Teams, as well as other groups within the Corporation, the Engineering and Procurement Contractor, contract resources and other stakeholders;
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited university an asset
- Post secondary education in Engineering Design and Drafting or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Certified Engineering Technologist (CET)
- 10-15 years experience in positions related to engineering technical design and construction engineering management
- Experience in a construction engineering management role with-in owner / operator upstream oil and gas organizations and EPCs

- Ability to build strong relationships with project team members and other corporate stake holders

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Working knowledge of regulations and codes
- Detailed knowledge of construction contracts
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft programs
- Can prepare comprehensive reports
