Job Scope

The General Manager of RCI Electrical Services Ltd. (GM) acts as a leader, strategist, and steward of an electrical service company. As a leader, he plans, organizes, and directs personnel executing multiple, simultaneous projects. The strategist prepares budgets, plans, and forecasts within program and policy guidelines, stewarding job progress through financial analysis.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and maintains short, medium and long range operational plans, including budget documents, estimates, project proposals, and so forth
  • Understands and implements policies and operating procedures 
  • Leads and monitors operational activities, including acquisition, schedule development, creation of construction projects, and contract negotiations; directs the production process
  • Manages the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; Assigns personnel to projects and communicates any special or unusual circumstances and factors
  • Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, merit increases, performs evaluations of employee performance, and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Provides leadership in the management of specialty contractors
  • Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings; promotes existing and new programs, policies and/or procedures
  • Directs new project prospecting efforts and proposes strategies for generating revenues
  • Audits progress of on-going projects, maintains and informs upper-level management of project status and any and all special concerns, ensures adherence to approved plans and specifications, while monitoring expenditures
  • Interacts with private consultants/contractors and inspects and monitors contractual work for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Ensures safety and quality assurance programs are observed
  • Develops annual operating budgets and provides fiscal direction to the unit
  • Ensures compliance with RCI, (Corporate - Casman Group of Companies) policies and mandates of local, provincial, and federal agencies
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned 
Qualifications
  • Proficient with MS Office, estimating software; conversant with budget projections, financial reports, and estimating
  • Organized team leader; analytical problem-solver, results oriented, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Completion of a Masters or Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and 10 or more years of experience. Equivalencies will be considered
