THEATRE TECHNICIAN

Keyano Theatre in Fort McMurray, Alberta is looking for a highly motivated individual in the area of technical theatre. This is a project position commencing September 2, 2008 to June, 30, 2009.
 
The Theatre Technician, under the direction of the Production Manager and the Technical Director, will work in all aspects of technical services. The candidate will be required to work as a team member in the operation, set-up and strike of Art Centre performances and classroom venues including but not limited to carpentry, audio, rigging and lighting.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess a Technical Theatre Diploma from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the workplace. A combination of professional equivalency from technical theatre employment will be considered in lieu of formal post secondary education.
 
A high level of expertise is required in one or more of the areas of technical theatre - (i.e. carpentry, audio, lighting, and rigging).  A good understanding and knowledge of theatre operations, community theatre, facility rentals and the safety procedures essential to a well-managed theatre are a must.  A good sense of humor and the ability to work with a variety of clients in a diverse, fast-paced environment is essential for this position.  Standard First Aid and a valid Class 5 driver's license are required.  Pyrotechnic/Firearm Certification would be considered definite assets.
 
SALARY:  $48,961 per annum plus an attractive benefits package.
