ESS Support Services is the division of Compass Group Canada responsible for serving clients in remote locations such as oil & gas exploration sites or logging & mining camps.
When it comes to feeding customers in distant or uncharted locations, a client's best answer is ESS Support Services. ESS focuses on providing foodservice and lifestyle solutions to operations in remote and isolated locations, such as Northern Ontario, Northern B.C., Northern Alberta, Northern Saskatchewan, Baffin Island, or Nunavut.
In these camps we assume responsibility not only for feeding the workers on site but also for most aspects of operating the camp where they live (facility management, security, recreation, etc).
We are currently seeking several Event Planning Coordinators who will be responsible for coordinating leisure activity programs in one of the assigned remote camps that Compass-ESS operates in Fort McMurray, Alberta. These remote camps house over 5,000 residents. You are expected to coordinate programs such as team sports tournaments in basketball, softball and ball hockey. You will facilitate competitive games such as poker, cribbage, darts and pool board games. You will coordinate special events and fun-filled activities on major holidays to keep associates active and motivated during their leisure time. You will also have opportunities to work with the Event Planning Manager to develop, design and facilitate new recreation programs and activities.
This position will report to the Event Planning Manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Possess a diploma or higher education in recreation programming studies
- 2 to 3 years experience in coordinating recreation programs and activities
- Well-rounded individual with a strong passion in organizing and facilitating recreation activities to people
- Experience working in a camp setting would be an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Work Conditions:
This position will require the individual to work 10 to 12 hours per work day or as required by business demands or emergencies and unforeseen events. The operation in this camp runs seven days a week. You will be required to work rotation schedule of (20) workdays followed by eight (8) consecutive days off. Traveling time required to and from the camp site is considered as part of consecutive days off period.
