Communications Department
This is a permanent, full-time position working thirty-five (35) hours per week.
Individuals in this entry level communication position, under general supervision from a manager, work with all departments to identify and analyze opportunities or issues related to corporate (internal) communications and, as required or requested, assist the Senior Communication Advisor in preparing corporate (external) communications.
Qualifications:
- Four (4) Year University degree in communications, public relations or journalism, or a Two (2) year Post-secondary Diploma in a related field, combined with demonstrated experience in public affairs or corporate communications.
- One (1) year experience in the communication/public relations field.
- Knowledge in the use and application of computer software programs within a Windows environment.
- Public sector experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills. The diverse nature of the work requires the ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time.
- Proven ability to express ideas both verbally and in writing. Ability to understand and interpret both verbal and written direction, which may be of a complex nature.
- Ability to recognize emerging issues and prioritize them in sequence of best action.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with co-workers, elected officials and the public.
- Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines.
- Salary $31.91 (Probationary Rate)
- $34.96 - $37.45 (Permanent Rates)
