This is a Relief position working forty (40) hours per week on a ten (10) hour shift for approximately six (6) months.
Reporting to the Utility Operations Water/Wastewater Foreman, you will operate assigned
equipment (sewer flusher, vactor truck, vacuum track steamer unit, backhoe to 90hp, track loader
to 4.5 cubic yard) involved in the distribution, collection, and disposal of water, wastewater,
residential/commercial solid waste and waste recycling in the Region.
Qualifications:
- Grade twelve (12) diploma or GED. Supplementary training in water, sewer,
- recycling and waste management an asset (Alberta Environment Certificate an
- asset).
- One (1) year experience in operating related heavy equipment associated with
- landfill operations and water and sewer systems. Equipment such as: track loaders
- up to 4.5 cu. yd. bucket capacity, self propelled compactor units, vactor truck with
- eductor, vacuum truck, rubber tire backhoe up to 90 hp.
- Valid class three (3) Alberta driver’s license with air endorsement. Class one (1) license and a clear driving record are assets.
- Must successfully complete Level I Alberta Environment Waste Water Collection Systems or Landfill Class II Certification within three (3) years of date of hire.
- Water Distribution Level I Alberta Environment an asset.
- Must be able to read and interpret underground water and sewer blueprints and able to identify hazardous waste symbols and signage.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions and in an extremely unsanitary environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of good safety procedures.
- Must be medically and physically fit.
- Salary $28.78 (Relief rate)

In addition to the rate of pay, we offer an additional annual payment of $12,480 which
represents a cost of living allowance.
