This is a Summer Student position working thirty-five (35) hours per week within the Emergency Management Branch of the Regional Emergency Services Department. This position is within the CUPE 1505 Union Bargaining Unit and is located in the community of Fort McMurray, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s urban centre.
Under close supervision, perform clerical support, receptionist duties and assist others with general office tasks and projects including conducting research. This position offers an opportunity to learn about the field of Emergency Management. Emergency Management professionals are employed at all levels of government from Municipal through to Federal. In addition, most large companies employ Emergency Management professionals alongside their Health and Safety staff as part of their corporate mandate. Duties requiring moderate lifting may be assigned.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Successful completion of one (1) year of post-secondary education is required.
Preference will be given to students currently enrolled in an Emergency Management or related program.
Proven customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Word and Excel is an asset.
Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector for review and acceptance is required.
Candidates who are successful during the interview process will be required to provide the following documents:
Proof of full-time post-secondary enrollment for the Winter 2017 and Fall 2017 semester.
A copy of a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.

Pay Level: 70% of PL 3
Salary Range: $23.75 per hour (Student Rate)
We offer an additional bi-weekly payment of $480 which represents a cost of living allowance
