  • This position is dynamic, evolving, and a key leadership position within Fort McMurray Addiction Services. We are looking for an innovative and creative clinical professional who can enhance and further develop an established and reputable treatment service.
  • Reporting to the Area Manager of Addictions and Mental Health, this position functions as a Counseling Supervisor in the context of a multidisciplinary team located within community addictions services.
  • The successful candidate will ensure the development, implementation and on-going administration of addiction services for clients and front-line staff.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  1. providing clinical supervision to the Addiction Counseling Team.
  2. program administration.
  3. day to day operations within Addictions Services.


  • Experience in scheduling, program development and administration, and mentoring of front-line service providers are essential ingredients to success.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required with this position.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of direct counseling experience.
  • May require special authorization from professional college/association to perform psychosocial interventions.
  • Master's degree in Social Sciences.
  • Regulated health care professional with active membership or registration with applicable licensing/regulatory body.
  • Experience in scheduling, program development and administration, and mentoring of front-line service providers are essential ingredients to success.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Certification.
  • DSM-IV/DSM-V training desired.
  • Active participation in ongoing professional development activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in progressively responsible leadership positions.
  • This position requires a vehicle for business use.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required.

  • All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties with AHS where applicable: Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to provide an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties with AHS. Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation.

Additional Information:

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
