Job Description

What You'll be Doing
  • Proactively establish, develop and maintain strong client relationships through regular contact and by providing timely, value-added information, advice and recommendations
  • The Senior Financial Advisor will be expected to build a portfolio based on marketing leads and the use of remote communication channels (e.g., telephone, email) to proactively reach out to clients the bank has identified as qualifying for the Imperial Service
  • Engage with several new referral based and existing clients every day to understand their long term financial goals and objectives and their short term financial needs, present customized financial recommendations, offer advice and complete sales
  • Their objective is to build, maintain and retain client relationships that lead to an in-depth understanding of a client's goals and financial situation, enabling the SFA to provide high quality financial planning, advice, and recommendations tailored to each client
  • Monitor your overall portfolio, reviewing progress against planned activities and targets and maintain overall responsibility for portfolio management including credit management

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) for business development, present sales proposals and close sales through digital media
  • Well developed Sales and relationship skills sufficient to build strong relationships with customers, to identify appropriate partnership and consolidation opportunities
  • Proactively promote/sell CIBC Imperial Service
  • Ability to use a variety of Financial planning software and applications in order to access and record customer information, to complete sales and servicing activities and to develop detailed financial plans
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Investments Funds Course, or the Canadian Securities Course preferred to support MFDA licensing
  • Well developed knowledge of credit and investment/deposit products/services, consumer lending practices, industry compliance standards
  • Asset to have the Certified Financial Planner designation or willing to complete.
  • A minimum two to five years of experience in providing financial planning advice

What You Should Know
  • In addition to the opportunity to service the bank's high value clients, ISD SFAs will also benefit from enhanced working hours flexibility. Selected candidates will be working morning or evening fixed shift and rotating on weekends
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada at the location(s) specified above and, where applicable, must have a valid work permit or study permit that allows the candidate to fulfill the requirements of the role
