Description:
Under general supervision, performs basic field inspections; collects, verifies and processes information contained on the assessment rolls within prescribed deadlines; and assist with assessment clerical support duties.
 
Responsibilities:

  • Performs inventory field inspections, and verifies and processes all information.
  • Collects basic land and building characteristics through on-site inspections of real property.
  • Provides clerical support services, assembles, processes and edits data required to issue assessment and business revitalization zone rolls and notices within legislated deadlines.
  • Inspects and maintains business revitalization zone assessments.
  • Reviews calculations and updates assessment records.
  • Receives and responds to enquiries through various means of communication regarding assessment, under own initiative.
  • Maintains and updates database rates and factors when required.
  • Assists assessors at peak times in completing their annual workloads thereby ensuring the assessment roll is finalized in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in real property assessment or equivalent certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution which includes coursework in computer assisted mass appraisal valuation, economics, and building construction is required combined with one (1) year related experience focused in the area of assessment and land titles or building construction, or real estate environment, or equivalent.
  • You will possess the following:
    Strong written and verbal communication skills, utilizing tact and diplomacy when dealing with assessment complaints and /or enquiries.
  • Must have a valid Alberta Class Five (5) Alberta Operator’s License or equivalent (clear driving record an asset) and personal vehicle for business use when required.
  • Must be medically and physically able to perform field inspections of all stages of construction indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (will be required to climb ladders and work in tight spaces).
  • Advanced skills working with PC applications, specifically computer-aided design, and spreadsheet software.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, assemble, accurately process, and edit information within set deadlines.
  • Willingness to perform fieldwork in the rural service area which may require overnight stays.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: 42.36 (Temporary Rate)
An additional bi-weekly payment of $480 which represents a cost of living allowance
